What upnext knows about you

Who runs upnext
This service is run by Upnext. Questions and requests about your data go to privacy@upnext.chat.
What we store
- Your account: your email address, and either a password handled by our sign-in provider or the fact that you signed in with Google. From Google we receive your email address and basic profile only.
- Your listening: the shows you follow, the episodes you played, how far you got, what you finished, and what you scheduled.
- What you keep: notes, saved moments, takeaways, recall answers, and the questions you ask about an episode.
- Connected accounts: if you connect Spotify, YouTube or X, we store the access tokens, encrypted, and the items those services return, such as saved episodes, a playlist or bookmarks. Connecting is optional and you can disconnect in Settings.
- Usage counts: how many transcript hours and AI requests you used, so plan limits can be applied.
What we do with it
We use it to run the player: to resume where you stopped, to write takeaways from the episodes you play, to bring them back for review, and to send the weekly email if you have it on. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not use your data to train AI models.
Services that process data for us
- Vercel hosts the site and records anonymous page analytics.
- Turso stores the database.
- Supabase handles sign-in.
- Cloudflare relays podcast audio that would otherwise not play.
- Deepgram transcribes podcast audio. It receives the public audio file, not your account.
- Anthropic and Google Gemini write takeaways and answer questions. They receive episode transcripts and the question you typed, not your email address.
- Resend delivers the weekly email.
Google user data
upnext's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. YouTube data is read only to list the videos in the playlist you chose and is never shared with anyone else. Disconnecting YouTube in Settings deletes our access to it; the videos already in your library go when you delete your account.
Cookies
One cookie keeps you signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies. Reader and player preferences are kept in your browser's local storage.
Keeping and deleting
We keep your data while your account exists. To have your account and everything attached to it deleted, or to get a copy of it, write to privacy@upnext.chat from the address you signed up with. We act on it within 30 days.
